On the “Train of Joy in the Digital Jungle” I try neither to preach, nor to sell motivational packages, nor even to inspire. Instead, I leave all of that to the personal experience of the reader. As Carl Rogers said, “Experience is, for me, the highest authority.”
A person who try learning by experience may pay a heavier price, but they enjoy the journey far more. So, on this train, happiness itself is learning and the best of that means learning by experience—the joy of discovery, not the dull profit of making money without the slightest creativity or innovation.
The “Eureka!” of Archimedes will not come to you even in the discovery of the meaning of a single line of poetry, if drinking a glass of cold water on a hot summer day doesn’t give you double joy, or if reading doesn’t, as they say, give you a real lift. That’s a sign something is wrong.
The greatest psychologists believe that writing is the key to unlocking this knot. That’s why I write here. Sometimes writing is even more healing than exercise—because even exercise doesn’t always give that same spark of joy.
When we constantly compare ourselves with others, complain about life in our country, or keep daydreaming about migration, villas, or businesses far out of reach, we kill the joy of discovery within ourselves. And that is more draining, and deadlier, than many illnesses or dangers.
So let us be joyful.
